National Rankings System 2023
The Stair Climbing Australia National Rankings System (SCA-NRS) is a system which awards points to SCA members based on participation in both stair races and events. Points are awarded by finishing position in races and a flat points award is given for participation in non-race stair events.
Event Levels
Each event is rated according to a system ratified by the SCA General Committee according to the following levels:
Event Level Maximum Points
1. Tier 1 Australian Races 350
2. Listed International Races 250
3. Tier 2 Australian Races 100
4. Stadium Stomp Events 40
Listed International Races
International races that qualify for ranking points will include all races in the Vertical World Circuit and selected iconic races, as well as Towerrunning World Association https://www.towerrunning.com/races/
Scoring Points
All SCA members receive points for races in the calendar year. When joining SCA races completed in that calendar year will be included even if you were not a member at the time you completed a race.
Where a race participant does multiple completed climbs, the fastest time will count towards their overall placing in the race with all other completions counting for 20 points (up to a maximum of an additional four. E.g.:
• 100 points for five multiple climbs if over 65th place in Aust Tier 1 races • 120 points for 46th in Aust Tier 1 race and four other climbs
For races that are made up of multiple formats of races, results will be based on overall placings. The SCA General Committee reserves the right to determine points allocations in races where other race formats are used.
Where two or more members are tied on points the member who has scored with the fewest races will rank higher. Where this is equal and where all members on the same score raced in the same races points from these races will determine ranking. Where this is equal or is not available members will be considered to be on the same ranking. Updated rankings will appear on the SCA website after the end of each month.
End of Year Champion
After the final event of the year the number 1 ranked male and female athletes will be considered the SCA season champions.
